Step 2

Step 2 - finishing layer #2,#3,#4,#5

Quite obvious & easy method here.We need to learn how to move center tiles without affecting other completed center tiles.

I am gonna call this process a ZIP & SWITCH. You need to understand how it works & how to use it yourself to solve your own unique position of pieces. I giving you examples.

ZIP & SWITCH

SWITCH involves only a single horizontal layer either layer just above or below the center.
ZIP involves a whole face rotation up or down. If you previously SWITCH to the left, your ZIP plane is the left face.

RULE 1:- if you SWITCH "ON" to the left and you must always SWITCH "OFF" to the right! or vice versa.

RULE 2:- DO NOT rotate SWITCH face until you have SWITCH "OFF"

RULE 3;- ZIP plane is always rotation free. You can move it anyway to serve you purpose

Example 1

ZIP is entire right face rotation
SWITCH layer is second last horizontal layer. "ON" toward right, "OFF" towards left

i)   Pick a particular corner lot center piece & its corresponding middle lot center piece. In this case, I pick Sanji's left shoulder (corner lot) & his arm (middle lot). What we want is shown below.

ii)  Sub-objective here is to move shoulder from bottom left to bottom right. First we ZIP up (move 1) left face, SWITCH "ON" to the left (move 2), ZIP down (move 3), SWITCH "OFF " (move 4)

iii)  You should now have the shoulder (corner lot) move from left to right spot as shown below. Next, we ZIP down 2x (move 1 & 2), & Switch "ON" left to attach shoulder (corner lot) & arm (middle lot).

iv)   Shoulder & arm is completed now. ZIP up & ready to SWITCH "OFF" back to the right.

v)  And you are done. Get the idea?

Example 2

ZIP is entire left face rotation
SWITCH layer is second top horizontal layer. "ON" toward left, "OFF" towards right

We want to move Robin's chest into position in between her shoulders which are already correct.

No way to that in a single zip switch. We need to break the corner lot shoulder & middle lot face of Robin, and then position that shoulder properly. SWITCH "ON" left, ZIP UP, SWITCH"OFF" right.

Now you'll get this. We want to connect Robin's chest to left shoulder. ZIP up, SWITCH "ON" to the right, ZIP down, SWITCH "OFF" to the left

You should get this. Then it is quite similar to previous Sanji example. We need position a single corner lot piece first; Robin right shoulder that is. SWITCH "ON" to left, ZIP 180deg, SWITCH "OFF".

Robin's right shoulder is in place already by now. Just need to attach it back. ZIP up to properly position the other 2 correctly lined chest & left shoulder, SWITCH "ON" to left, ZIP up, SWITCH "OFF" to right.

Done!

TIPS;-
  • SWITCH is only ONE single layer going left or right.
  • ZIP is only ONE single layer (in example above the right face), free rotating up & down.
  • Do NOT ZIP the SWITCH layer in the "ON" condition
  • Always check other completed layers are NOT affect by you moves

CONCLUSION;- With this method, you will be able to zip & switch all layers #2,#3,#4, & until layer #5 with no problems into nice 3x3 center pieces pictures.
