Step 3

Step 3 - Corner Center Pieces on Layer #6

With previous methods you should solve for all center pieces on layers #1, #2, #3, #4, #5. This is what I got. You have the same.

Notice no matter how you play around with ZIP & SWITCH, it is virtually impossible to solve for Nami. This is a critical difference between picture faces on 5x5 Rubik's / Professor's cube and the standard colour ones. On standard, your center pieces are actually done. Here you will notice order & also position place a key role.

Interesting! Isn't it?

I found this solution myself ... :-P ... I called it TRIPLE EXCHANGE... let me abbreviated it as XXX... please no funny suggestions what else it could mean.

Anyways here is how you do it. Remember... we always reference orientation of center most piece

TRIPLE EXCHANGE aka XXX

This is a simple move but you need to understand the mechanism & how it everything happens. The idea is to exchange this 3 pieces counter clockwise. P/S; The other 3 faces hidden from you will also XXX!!! DO NOT touch other faces at all.

The execution pretty easy & quick. Focus on the coordinate with red circle. Whatever you do, REMEMBER d this coordinate! Again... REMEMBER this coordinate. Execution simple; DOWN, LEFT, UP, RIGHT

You'll end up with this (picture on below). Notice Robin shoulder is on Nami's side. Now rotate entire Nami's plane so we can XXX another piece of Nami from same coordinate

You will end up with this cube

Now we have got this picture on the left. Notice Nami right shoulder piece (red circled on top) is going to come back in the next XXX. So we must put it correctly in its spot, which is marked with the red circle on the bottom. Simply rotate Nami's entire plane by 180 degrees.

You get picture on the right. Then execute XXX.

You end up with this. Now strands of Nami's hair coming back (top red circle). Right position is show by red circle at bottom. Rotate 180 degrees for Nami's plane. XXX.

Understand how the 3 pieces move when you run XXX. Only then you can solve for all the bits of Nami corner center pieces using this XXX method. You should get something like this.

Bad News! You are not DONE!

Always inspect other hidden faces SOMETIMES reveal you this. 3 XXX Pieces of Sanji, Chopper, Zoro out of its location!!

What to do to correct this? Re-run a redundant 2 pieces removal & placement of Nami piece on same coordinate. You did remember the coordinate right? Picture below is original coordinate & we going to XXX these 3 pieces with Nami's face.

RIght picture, we rotate & XXX another 3 piece with Nami's shoulder.

Now fix back the coming Nami face & shoulder in the next XXX. We need to turn Nami's plane down & run XXX to fix her shoulder piece.

Now fix back last piece of Nami by rotating entire plane up & execute XXX as shown below

So you end up with same original Nami picture you started with. Seems idiotic right?

Am I wasting your time? Take a look at the back to the other 3 hidden faces opposite.. notice the shift? it's a Clockwise XXX.

Repeat the same re-run process; take off two Nami pieces & fix them back. You solve the problem hidden face as shown below.

TIPS;-
  • More discussions on this XXX on "Review; my 3 combo".
  • If you have left with 2 pieces of corner on Nami plane not solvable. ... something like this below

  • Try & error with ZIP & SWITCH to re-position the order for the corner center pieces. Ignore edge center pieces.
  • You will be able to solve all corner center pieces.
  • I got no specific here. May be you can comment your ideas & solutions
